love

the word taunts me everyday

letting me know of the lack

of its existence in my life

the letters trail after my every move

leaving me paranoid in its presence

the lightness of it all will leave me buried in loneliness

but the heaviness of it all will drown me in waves of pressure.

it tells me that i have lingered without it

and will eventually die due to it

how is it that this intangible

high-value entity

thrusts itself so easily

at me

yet

misses me all at once ?

Description:

Thích, a verb/name of Vietnamese origin, meaning to like, love, alternatively,

grief, sorrow.

For this piece, I intend to display a different perspective of what love can evoke. Of course, we are all aware of and bask in the fairytale, warm, light sensation of love; however, love can also imitate seasons as after the warmth one may cycle towards the cold flakes of loneliness. Throughout this piece, I utilize a wave-like form to indicate how easily love flows through our life: through society, through family, and perhaps through others within our life. I supplement that form via specific words with the intention of describing the unspoken emotions that love can evoke too. How, for some, love can flow into their lives as easily at the pace that it leaves, or, for people like me, how easily love can flow into our lives, without ever truly being there.
