Secrets of Eternity

How beautiful fragility is

And how sad it is to be prideful of immortality

How freeing it is to be mortal

The wind will never blow the same

The stars will never shoot as before

mortality is a loophole to time

Beauty and youth is fleeting but whatever is left is true

And forever

Love will always remain the same

I’ve never believed in any other fate nor destiny than my mortality

Nothing more has given me greater meaning and passion

Is there any beauty, youth, or love in immortality?

Immortality: a curse that turns gold to nothingness

I wonder if their pride will ever turn to envy

How lonely it must be

for the earth and all it’s gems

to slip and perish between the cracks of immortal hands

Description:

“Secrets of Eternity” is about the value of time. Nearly all of us have had that brief thought of living forever and initially, we think it would be a privilege: to never have to worry about passing or risking our lives but this poem speaks to the beauty of mortal life. It’s beautiful to have something so valuable such as life and be afraid to lose it. We are lucky to be fearful of losing because if not, that leaves nothing to value or love. Golds such as beauty, youth, love diminish in the face of immortality. There can only be meaning in these gems if there is a balance: the possibility that it will someday fade with time.
